It is so easy to make money with Google Adsense in Nigeria, here’s a quick overview of my 4 step process for making money with Google Adsense.
- Choose a platform to run Google Ads on.
Google Adsense works for both blogs and YouTube channels. You can decide to use both or grow an audience on just one of these platforms.
- Create High-Quality Content that gets traffic
Quality content is king when it comes to making money on Google Adsense. Google only prioritizes and rewards quality content.
- Get Approved for Google Adsense
As a new content creator, you won’t automatically be able to make money with Google Adsense in Nigeria, you need to get accepted into their program. For blogs, you’ll need to have a certain amount of page views as well as fulfill some other requirements. On YouTube, you need to have 4000 hours of watch time and a thousand subscribers to get accepted.
- Focus on Increasing your Earnings Strategically
Strategic content creators are able to make 6-7 Figures every single month with Google Adsense. Correct Ads placement is one of the best ways to do this.
What is Google Adsense?
Google Adsense is an ad network owned by Google. Its monetization system comprises publishers and advertisers.
You might be wondering where Google gets the fund for the payout to its partners. Well, it’s quite easy to decode.
Advertisers are online business owners or entrepreneurs with products and services in various niches.
They leverage the huge audience asset content creators have in order to get the word out about their brand to their target audience.
These content creators have the audience these business owners need and Google serves as the middleman.
Advertisers go to the Google Ads center to create campaigns to promote their products and services to a relevant audience.
Advertisers pay Google a certain amount based on the number of clicks and views their ads get on your website.
Then Google keeps 45% of the total amount while you keep the rest for owning the audience.
How Much Can You Make On Google Adsense?
This will hugely depend on the niche you’ve chosen to create content on.
Some niches are a lot more profitable than others. This is because advertisers are willing to pay more for a certain demographic than others.
For example, a Finance blog is a lot more profitable than a hobby blog.
How to Make Money with Google Adsense in Nigeria
1. Choose a platform to run Google Ads on.
I spoke earlier on how there were two ways to make money with Google Adsense in Nigeria. First with a blog and then a YouTube channel.
These two methods are both lucrative and profitable but also have their pros and cons.
YouTube is a Video sharing platform with billions of active users.
It’s the second-largest website in the world after Google. YouTube is owned by Google. This means you’ll also get to enjoy free traffic from Google.
The new “Dream Job” of our generation is YouTube and there’s a reason for this.
Asides from the many monetization opportunities Google opens its creators too, Google Adsense happens to be the simplest option for most Nigerians.
Through Google AdSense, YouTube shows ads on videos. Based on the duration in which a viewer watches those ads, YouTube gets paid by these advertisers.
They then split the revenue with the owners of the YouTube channels on which the Ads were watched.
The Google Adsense program in terms of YouTube is otherwise known as the “YouTube Partner Program.
How To Join The YouTube Partner program
To be eligible for the YouTube partner program, you’ll need to have 4000 hours of watch time in less than a year and 1000 subscribers.
Your channel will also need to meet the terms and conditions of Google’s policy e.g No copyright Issues.
Getting started on YouTube requires a lot of work, and can take a lot of time to yield results. There are also a lot of factors to consider in order to be successful with YouTube.

2. Create High-Quality Content that gets traffic
Once you have your blog or YouTube Channel up and running, it’s time to start writing. That’s where the main deal starts.
You need to treat your blog or YouTube channel like a business, not a passion project.
Your blog isn’t a diary where you dump all your ideas when you feel like it.
To maximize your income potential you need to be intentional about the content you put out online.
This simply means you writing high-quality content that ranks on Google or YouTube. As a Content creator, your best friend in maximizing your income potential is SEO.
You need to be able to create content for search engines. YouTube and Google are both search engines that get billions of search queries every single month.
In fact, Google is the largest search engine in the world while YouTube tops second on the list. With that much traffic, there’s so much money to be made.
With YouTube, you need to avoid creating vlog-style content at the very least. Instead, focus more on creating searchable content that shows up in the YouTube search results.
YouTube and Blogging can both become passive income streams if you play your cards right. Since they are both search engines, you can have your content rank and show up for years to come.
Thereby making you money Time and Time again.
SEO is a strategy that involves optimizing your content to show up on search results. It stands for Search Engine Optimization. These search engines are bots and don’t understand text or video. So the purpose of doing SEO is to help these search engines better understand what your content is all about.
Thus, helping them decide whether or not to show your content for that search term or topic.
Here’s how SEO works for Blogs and YouTube channels in general:
Let’s say you want to create content on “Parenting”. You simply find keywords that people are searching for.
Parents for example would be searching for topics like
- How to train a teenager
- How to train a child without beating them
Once you have a list of potential topics for your blog post or YouTube video, It’s time to start SEO Proper.
With different keyword research tools, you’ll be analyzing and validating each of the keywords on your topics list. Make sure to only create content on Keywords that have a high search volume and low competition rate.
By High search volume keywords, I mean keywords that get typed into Google a lot.
As regards competition, you should understand one thing. On the exact topic, you’re trying to create content on, other content creators might have done a good job already.
You, therefore, need to ensure that you stand a chance at beating the competition on the content you’re trying to rank for.
The process of finding suitable keywords for your content is Keyword research. This is the first step of SEO.
Once you have figured out which keywords are better suited for your content, it’s time to start creating. Remember, you need to focus on creating high-quality content.
Congratulations!! Now your content is ready, you can start optimizing your content using SEO. YouTube SEO is quite different from Google SEO.
So I’d be recommending separate resources for each of them.
Let’s start with YouTube SEO, here’s a complete guide to learning how to do SEO on YouTube.

I followed a step-by-step process to ensure that my website got ranked on Google. Here’s a quick overview of what I did.
There are 7 basic steps to ranking your website on Google and these steps are:
- Getting your website indexed and crawled by Google bots
- Writing High-quality content on a particular keyword (After your Keyword research process)
- Do On Page S.E.O by adding the keyword to different important portions of your blog post, so search engines know what the content is all about.
- Prioritize technical SEO. Do this by ensuring your site is mobile responsive and has a fast loading speed.
- Build backlinks i.e get other quality websites in your industry linking back to your content. This sends a signal to Google that your content is Quality. Since other websites are linking to it.
- Increase your Click-through-rate on the search results. Once your content starts showing up on the search results, you need to steal all the clicks. Tweak your title and descriptions so people are drawn to your content as opposed to the other ranking posts on Google.
- The final step is Snippet optimization and is a lot more technical than the other steps. Although it can really boost the traffic your website and blog get significantly.

On your blog, the requirements to get approved for Google AdSense are quite different.

4. Focus on Increasing your Earnings Strategically
Congratulations you are now part YouTube Partner program or the Google AdSense program.
It’s time to start making money.
I forgot to tell you, some people make Pennies on the dollar with Google AdSense while some other people make 6-7 figures with the same Google AdSense program.
The strategy makes the difference, you can’t just put out random content and expects to make a killing online.
More views on the ads on your content mean more money. so the main focus is getting more views.
Be it on the blog or on your YouTube channel, there are so many ways to get more views on your ads.
A. Focus on High Volume Keywords
As we talked about earlier, stop creating random content, do your due diligence and make sure that every keyword you’re going for, at least has a decent search volume.
Think about it, a keyword that gets 10k searches per month will automatically bring more views to send a keyword that only gets 1k searches per month.
So don’t ever joke with your keyword research. Here are some resources to do keyword research on YouTube and on your blog.
B. Promote externally
Google and YouTube are the largest search engines in the world and you potentially have access to billions of active users on the platform.
The only problem is their algorithms. When you are just starting out, you’re going to need to promote your content outside of these search engines.
When you publish a new YouTube video, instead of waiting when the gods of YouTube, try posting on Facebook or Instagram and asking people to watch the video.
Also try Facebook groups, forums, and Quora. The idea here is to get as many people your watch videos in the first hour or day as you can.
This gives a positive sign to the YouTube algorithm, making it push your video to its own inbuilt audience.
That’s basically how Videos go viral.
As for your blog post, building backlinks you can do wonders for your ads earnings. Backlinks are a link on another website to your own website. for example, if proagencyspot.com links back to your blog, that’s a backlink.
Backlinks naturally happen when you have good content that bloggers just want to link to as a resource for their own readers.
When you are just starting out, people will not be able to find your content to even be able to link to it. You, therefore, need to go out and do the work.
The reason why backlinks are so important is that backlinks send a signal to Google that says ” If other blogs are linking to this content, it should be good, so we’ll rank higher“.
One thing to note about backlinks is that for a backlink to be acknowledged by Google it needs to come from a website that is similar or a relevant topic to yours and has a high domain authority in the eyes of Google.
One of the best ways I recommend for building backlinks is by guest posting. Find a website that ranks for most of the Keywords in your industry. Send them an email asking them to help them write content for their blog. Most give you a backlink at the end of your content.
Your blog can significantly make a lot more by just having the right backlinks. more good backlinks mean a higher domain Authority in the eyes of Google.
This means Google will be willing to rank you for the keywords that you real fast as their algorithms now see your site as reputable.
I discussed everything you need to know about backlinks in the SEO guide I talked about earlier on.
So do check it out if you want to do well with SEO on your blog in Nigeria.
C. Create Engaging content
Finally, engaging content is the way to go to make more money with Google AdSense. the longer people watch your video content, the more ads they will be able to view on your site or Channel. That means more money.
Your retention rate is how long you are able to keep people reading or watching your content and that is a very important ranking factor for both Google and YouTube search engines.
Avoid creating shabby content, that has people clicking off as soon as they click on it to read. This sends a really bad signal to Google.
Conclusion
This is for all my bloggers out there looking to join the Google AdSense program.
Many people get banned from the Google AdSense program. this is really bad because you can only have one Google Adsense in your name, get it banned and you’ll never have access to another one.

Moreso, If you’re going the blogging route to start making money on Google Adsense, it can also be very hard to understand the requirements it takes to get accepted into the Google AdSense program.
