When it comes to making money online, Fiverr has yielded the best results for me and I must confess, I do have a sweet spot for this side hustle.

Fiverr is a freelance marketplace that allows skilled individuals to list their services and get paid by business owners and entrepreneurs.

Everyone certainly understands the power of freelancing when it comes to making money online, but Fiverr takes it all to a whole level.

Millions of people actively come onto Fiverr in search of professionals. If you show up even in front of 0.001% of those people, their pay is still enough to cover the bills.

How To Make Money on Fiverr in Nigeria

There are 3 different ways I know to make money on Fiverr in Nigeria. I just can’t wait to share all of my strategies with you.

1. Start Freelancing on Fiverr

Freelancing is the most popular way to make money on Fiverr. There are so many services that you could offer as a freelancer on Fiverr.

Fiverr freelancing was one of the first ways I started making money online. Think of any Skill that you might have now, it’s almost guaranteed you’ll find it as a service Fiverr.

Although many Nigerians are making a killing on Fiverr, a large population of Fiverr Nigerian sellers still haven’t made a penny.

Making money on Fiverr is more than just creating an account, listing your Gigs, and getting paid. A lot of strategizing goes into making money with Fiverr. 

I have had two Fiverr accounts created and have reached a higher seller rank on both accounts. This is all because of my proven strategy.

It’s almost like I’ve cracked the code on Fiverr. Below is a step-by-step process for making money by freelancing on Fiverr.

a. Create An Account on Fiverr

Let’s start with the basics. To make money on Fiverr, you’re going to need an account on the platform. It’s really very easy and free to signup for a Fiverr account.

Head over to Fiverr.com

On the Fiverr Homepage, you’ll find the signup button to get started. When you create a new Fiverr account, you will buy signing up as a buyer by default.

So after you create your Fiverr account, on your dashboard, you are going to want to become a Fiverr seller.

Everyone can sell on Fiverr, so don’t worry about not being accepted on the platform. During your seller’s activation process, you’ll be asked a series of simple questions to get your account verified, and running.

The entire process usually costs about 15 minutes to get through.

b. Choose a Service to Offer

A huge determinant of your success on Fiverr is the skill you’ll be offering. 

Fiverr has millions of monthly buyers and if you want to be very successful on the platform you need to only choose skills that are in high demand.

If you don’t already have the skill you want to offer, focus on learning only skills that have high demand.

Some of these skills include digital marketing, coding, and web development.

Some skills don’t just do well on Fiverr, this is because there are only a few people searching for those kinds of services.

The major reason why some sellers barely get any sales per month isn’t that their gigs aren’t optimized, rather it is because in general no one is searching for those kinds of services.

In a nutshell, to do well on Fiverr, you need to focus more on high-demand skills that get a lot of searches.

This might mean you have to learn a new skill, but the reward is worth it.

Besides the demand, another criterion you should keep in mind when choosing a skill to offer on Fiverr is profitability.

While some skills have high demand, they might not be so profitable.

Here’s an example:

On my first Fiverr account, I make a total of $400 per month. The gigs I chose to offer were in the marketing niche and they included: keyword research, email marketing, lead magnet creation, and color Branding.

These skills were in high demand but not too many people were willing to pay premium prices for them.

Don’t get me wrong $400 per month is a lot of money and in fact, Watch this video to discover the exact gig title I used to make that much money.

c. Do your Fiverr Keyword Research

Once you must have decided on a skill to offer on Fiverr, it’s time to do your Keyword research. Keywords are extremely important on Fiverr because Fiverr is a search engine.

Customers go over to the Fiverr platform and type in the job they might want to outsource.

When it comes time to make your service listing on the Fiverr marketplace, you’ll need to make sure that your Title, description, and tags contain the keywords that potential clients might be searching for.

This way you stand a greater chance of showing up on the search results for that keyword.

How To Do Fiverr Keyword Research

• Step 1: Type in your main service into the Fiverr search bar and look at the Fiverr suggestions.

These suggestions are simply Fiverr showing you other related keywords your customers are using to find services like yours.

N.B If you are offering a popular skill like Graphics design, it is worth noting that there are thousands if not millions of people already offering this service.

You, therefore, need to niche down and choose a more specific keyword in order to rank on Fiverr search results.

So instead of trying to optimize for “graphics design”, choose a sub-service in graphics design e.g “Logo design”.

You’ll have higher chances at sales on Fiverr if your competition is a lot less.

For more keyword suggestions, Use this formula, “Niche service + alphabet”.

Inputting this in the Fiverr search bar will prompt Fiverr to provide you with even more keyword suggestions

Feel free to apply this formula in any niche of your choice.

• Step 2: Write down all the keyword suggestions and choose only viable ones.

Viable keywords are keywords that you can potentially rank for.

In the previous step, you will be able to get a huge list of potential keywords to create gigs on but you need to understand that some of those keywords won’t get your sales.

My Criteria for a Google keyword are these:

A. It should have less than a thousand search results.

B. 50% of existing sellers should have reviews (Proof that clients are buying in that niche)

Color branding was a gig I used to offer on Fiverr, I chose this service because it met two of my gig criteria.

d. Set up your Gig listing

When you’re just starting out on Fiverr, You’ll only be able to set up (7) Gigs.

So you want to make sure you’re maximizing these gigs’ allowance with gig ideas that could make you the most money.

Meanwhile, setting up your gig on Fiverr is not quite hard, Fiverr makes the whole process really so easy.

A few gig elements you’d need to set up include:

• Your Title, Description, and Tags. (Make sure they are catchy and contain the keywords found in your keyword research process)

• Your Gig price: Keep your price balanced. If too high, you won’t get any sales, since you don’t have any reviews yet. Too Low and your Gig might run the risk of looking cheap.
• Setting Your Gig Media (Image or video): This has to be attractive enough to get clicks when customers come across it.

2. Start Fiverr Affiliate Marketing

Many people don’t know this, but Fiverr has an affiliate program. As much as I love freelancing on Fiverr, nothing beats making passive income with affiliate marketing.

Thankfully Fiverr offers you the opportunity to join the affiliate marketing program for completely free and start promoting their different products and services.

As opposed to freelancing on Fiverr, you don’t have to trade your time for money with affiliate marketing. 

You simply promote the different products or services on Fiverr and get paid whenever you make a sale.

Just like affiliate marketing on any other program, the Basics still remain the same.

You find a product or service you want to promote on Fiverr, get your unique tracking link, and start promoting.

With how huge the Fiverr Academy and freelance marketplace are, you can never run out of products to promote.

c. Generate your affiliate link

On your affiliate dashboard, go over to the “Marketing Tools” tab. Here you’ll be able to generate your affiliate link on the “Default and Deep link” tab.

d. Start promoting your Fiverr Affiliate link

There are endless ways to start promoting your affiliate links to start getting clicks and making sales on Fiverr but only a few of these strategies move the needle powerfully.
